Outfitters Shoe Demo

Looking to test out new trail running shoes while taking in the sights and sounds of Tuck Fest? Stop by the USNWC’s Outfitters to demo shoes from La Sportiva, Inov-8 or Altra. Demo shoes will be available in various male and female sizes during normal store hours. ID and credit card are required to demo shoes.

#TuckFest Photo Comp

The #TuckFest Photo Comp is open and available to anyone at Tuck Fest. Simply post a photo or short video (15 seconds or less) of a scene at Tuck Fest to Instagram. Make sure you use the hashtag #tuckfest, and tag @usnwctuckfest or @usnwc in your post. The top three entries will be selected to win a USNWC prize pack. Entries must be posted by Sunday night (4/23) at midnight to be entered to win.

Bell’s Welcome Kick Off Meet & Greet

Kick off the Tuck Fest weekend at the Bell’s Welcome Meet & Greet at the Outdoor Market Bar. Grab a beer, some Bell’s swag, meet the Bell’s crew, and hear about the fun things they have in store for the weekend.

Live Screen Printing + Bottles to Shirts

In addition to making the event shirts and selling Tuck Fest merchandise, Recover will be setup in the registration area with Live Screen Printing and a process demo.  Stop by to learn how eight plastic bottles are made into one Recover shirt, and see the design printed.

Kids Obstacle Challenge

Come out and compete in a fun and safe environment at the Kids Obstacle Challenge. This self-timed race challenges kids to complete out Obstacle Challenge Course, located just below the River Course along the Wilderness Channel. Featuring 10 varying obstacles, this race puts your speed and strength to the test. Kids will finish the race by climbing to the top of the knot rope and ringing the bell. Active parental support is encouraged on the course. Participants must be ages 8-12 and weigh over 45lbs. The Kids Obstacle Challenge begins at the times listed below for each day however times must be turned into the Tuck Fest Info Booth (see festival map for location) by 7:00pm on Friday, 4:00pm on Saturday and 2:00pm on Sunday to be in the running for prizes.

Old School Moves for Old School Fools with Shane Benedict

Shane Benedict of Liquid Logic Kayaks will be coaching the finer points of getting vertical in slicey kayaks. If your stern squirt feels limp, or if you don’t know your screw-up from your shudder rudder, then come on out and get the low down from the philosopher of vert.

Yoga

Start things off on the right foot or relax and unwind from a busy day at Tuck Fest with any of our various yoga sessions. Each 60 minute practice will take place on the South Ridge, is open to all festival guests, and will be led by a local instructor.

Participants should bring their own water bottle and yoga mat.

Chris Clark Bicycle Stunt Show

Chris Clark is a professional stunt cyclist who has competed around the world over the last decade, entertaining thousands at events like the Gravity Games, Vans Warped Tour, New York’s Times Square Parade, and the Olympic Games. Chris’ 30-minute show is a breathtaking display of balance and agility as he maneuvers his bike and body over custom built ramps and obstacles, displaying the skills he has acquired in his years of competitive experience.

Bell’s Adventure Passport

Pick up your passport from one of the Bell’s Brewery Reps located throughout the festival at Bell’s beer pouring stations. Visit each location and meet our reps to receive a punch on your passport. Turn in your completed passport to a Bell’s rep and receive a special Bell’s prize. All completed passports will be entered for the chance to receive a package full of Bell’s Brewery swag after the festival.

Survival 101

Learn basic survival information and preventative measures that you can take on your next back-country experience during Survival 101. Kayak Fishing

Intro

Intro to Kayak Fishing offers great insight into this water-based sport which is rapidly growing in popularity. Pros from Confluence Outdoor will cover topics including basic rigging, fundamental stroke techniques, and more.

Advanced

Advanced Kayak Fishing is ideal for those who may have previous experience but are looking to take their kayak fishing trips to the next level. Topics will include advanced stroke and paddling technique, packing tips for long days on the water, and more.

Intro to Acro Yoga

Acro Yoga is a partner based practice that incorporates elements of Acrobatics and Yoga. Acro teaches high levels of communication, trust, community and confidence all wrapped up in a super core and totally body workout of fun.
In the “Intro to Acro” class you’ll learn some of the basic moves and sting them together in a flow.

Biking … where do I start?

Interested in getting into Mountain Biking or Road Cycling? Don’t know where to start? Swing by the Bike Source tent in Vendor Village to get all the info you need to put your wheels in motion. Bike Source staff will be on site to discuss the differences in bikes, necessary gear, general bike safety, and what is the best way to get into the biking community. No prior riding experience is required.

MTB Enduro Pre-Ride

Gear up for a big run in the MTB Enduro with Chris Clark, veteran Schwinn rider who tours the world competing and performing demos. Chris will lead the way through the Enduro course, offering tips on how to have the best run possible to participants.

Bell’s Brewery Photo Contest

Swing by the Market Bar on Sunday to get your photo taken with the Bell’s Oberon pool backdrop and plenty of fun photo props. Bell’s staff will be on hand to take your photo and hand out some special brewery swag to participants. Anyone at the festival can join the Bell’s Brewery photo contest by posting a photo to Instagram, Facebook or Twitter. To enter, use the hashtags #tuckfest and #reachforthesun in your post. Three winners will be selected to win will receive a package of Bell’s swag after the festival.

SUP Yoga

SUP Yoga offers guests the chance to take their meditative exercise routine on the water atop stand-up paddle boards. Practice will be led by a local certified instructor on the flatwater of the Catawba River. Limited boards are provided by the USNWC on a first come, first serve basis.

Basic Bike Maintenance

Not a “certified bicycle technician” or in need a refresher course? This demo will teach you general bike tune up steps, how to fix a flat, how to clean your bike, and more. Our friends at the Bike Source tent in Vendor Village will review the basics and be available for questions. No prior riding experience is required.

Short-Bike World Championships

Bring out your A-Game (or at least your best heckling voice) to the Short Bike World Championships. Participants young and old will use 12” kid’s bikes to race head-to-head in heats of four down and back a short, flat-ish course. Two tournament style competitions will take place, with the top two finishers of each race moving on until the finals, where one Short Bike Challenge Champion will be crowned from both the Young Folks (10 years and under) and Old Folks (21 and up) divisions.
